December 12, 2006-Reno, NV- The Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) honored forty-one Nevada businesses with Tourism Development Awards for expanding or starting new facilities or services to draw visitors to the state, Lt. Gov. Lorraine Hunt announced recently. Among them was American Rally Sport Group, Inc., of Laughlin, Nevada.
“We are pleased to have American Rally Sport Group be recognized and to receive this prestigious award,” commented Roger Allison, ARSG President. “I must say that it was through the tremendous efforts of all members of our event committees, enthusiasm and involvement of hundreds of event volunteers, as well as the support and involvement of local businesses that resulted in such an outstanding success of the inaugural Laughlin International and Motorsports Festival this past Veterans’ Day. We are pleased to accept this coveted state award from the Nevada Commission on Tourism.”
Each recipient was honored at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism held December 12, at the Silver Legacy Hotel-Casino in downtown Reno. Jena Morga of the Laughlin Tourism Committee, representing American Rally Sport Group, accepted a plaque and certificate signed by Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn, Lt. Governor Hunt, NCOT chair person, and Bruce Bommarito, NCOT director.
Tourism Development Awards are designed to give Nevada businesses well-deserved recognition for investing in our Number One industry, tourism,” Hunt said. “They have spent their time and money developing and expanding services, launching new events and improving facilities that all contribute to making a visitor feel welcome in our great state.”
Other award recipients included the Austin Historical Society for opening a new museum in Austin; the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City for completing a 300-seat performance hall in the old St. Theresa’s Church; and Lake Mead RV Village in Boulder City for constructing new upscale RV sites that will provide 10,000 more visitor nights for guests to enjoy Lake Mead.
