K&N Adds Airflow to the European Volkswagen Market with Air Induction System
The driving dynamics of German engineering in the European market is present in Volkswagen’s model line-up. There is an extensive option list depending on the make and model including roomy rear seats, easy access, tire-pressure monitoring and crash-active headrests.
K&N Engineering has developed a 57i Intake Kit (57-0563) for the modern Volkswagen group consisting of the Touran, Passat, Jetta and Golf. It also includes several Skoda, Seat and Audi models.
Engineers from K&N worked with the Seat Leon ll 2.0 liter non-turbo engine with 150 British Horse Power. “This is the same engine as in all the Volkswagen group applications,” said Patrick Jacobs, K&N Product Development Technician. “We made a special adaptor which fits perfectly on the intake hose.”
The intake hose has a temperature sensor and a breather hose. “Our new adaptor makes it possible to connect a conical K&N Air Filter to the specially designed intake hose,” he said. “We looked at all the engine bays of all these cars and we managed to make the kit fit all the applications.”
The hook is clamped between the filter and the hose clamp. “We connected the bracket to the hook and this is how we mounted the bracket study onto the cars,” said Jacobs. “We did not have to use a cold air hose because the K&N Air Filter is placed in the very front of the vehicles.” Each International Intake Kit is designed to provide power throughout the RPM range.
All adaptors are made from high quality materials such as steel, aluminum, silicone or reinforced nylon to ensure longevity.
