Sam and Chip Foose to be Honored by Goodguys
Pleasanton, CA – Father and son automotive design legends Sam and Chip Foose will be honored as “Hot Rod Heroes” this summer in Columbus, Ohio at the Goodguys 10th PPG Nationals held July 13, 14 & 15 at the Ohio Expo Center. The father & son hot rod dream team will be on hand at the Goodguys Nationals both Friday and Saturday July 13th & 14th and will participate in a special “Meet & Greet” Saturday morning, July 14th at 10am inside the Expo Center’s Celeste Center indoor stadium. Fans will get a rare chance to hear the Foose family story as well as ask them questions. Autograph signing sessions are scheduled as well.

“It should be a really great weekend in Columbus,” Chip said. “Dad and I don’t get a lot of opportunities to do events together so this will be special.”

The Foose design legacy goes back to Santa Barbara, California in the 1960s. At the age of seven, Chip started working for his father building and designing specialty cars and hot rods. By the time Chip was 12, he and his father were combining their talents and designing and painting cars. Today, Sam and Chip still team up for special projects under the wildly popular Foose design umbrella.

The Foose family has been long time friends with the Meadors family – founders of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. Working together, Sam and Chip designed and painted Gary Meadors’ 1932 Ford Tudor sedan in 1986 (the official Goodguys logo car) as well as Marilyn Meadors’ 1934 Ford roadster.

“It will be a neat experience reuniting with the Foose’s in Columbus,” Goodguys Chairman Gary Meadors said. “We’ll have a great time telling old stories. The fans should really dig it!”

The Goodguys PPG Nationals is one of the world’s largest rod & custom events featuring over 6,000 1972 & earlier vehicles. The event also boasts a vast array of manufacturer’s exhibits catering to the automotive aftermarket.
