New Actron AutoScanner Plus Full-Featured and Economical Scan Tool
CLEVELAND, OH, March 28, 2007 – Actron®, a leading manufacturer of automotive diagnostic tools, introduces the full-featured and economical AutoScanner Plus (Part Number CP9180).  This inexpensive scan tool, which is priced below $180, is compatible with all 1996 and newer vehicles (OBD-II).

Actron’s CP9180 AutoScanner Plus enables users to review live sensor data, record the data, and print data when needed.  The tool retains the vehicle’s most recently scanned data and configuration.  It also displays freeze-frame data, which provides a “snapshot” of the vehicle’s operating conditions at the time of the fault.

An OBD-II code library is built into the CP9180, providing users with trouble codes and corresponding definitions. With the included USB cable it can be

connected to the Internet to update the scanner in minutes.  The CP9180 reads and erases hard and pending diagnostic trouble codes, performs 02 monitor tests, reviews data off-vehicle, and resets the check engine light.

When it comes to emissions system testing, Actron’s CP9180 AutoScanner Plus responds with I/M monitors that provide readiness test status.  Users can also check malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) status.  The unit features a large graphic LCD screen, OBD-II drive cycle mode, State OBD-II check for emissions, a diagnostic monitor test, as well as vehicle information that includes VIN number and calibration IDs.

“This user-friendly scan tool has an easy-to-read LCD screen,” says Shilpi Biswas, Director – Marketing & Product Development Aftermarket Diagnostic Group for Actron.  “It reads, displays and erases both generic and manufacturer specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and, it displays a summary recap of the vehicle’s emissions status.”

The CP9180 kit includes the base scan tool, OBD-II cable, a USB cable, a manual, the Professional Companion CD, and a registration card.  The CD has a tri-lingual manual and code reference library of over 5,000 DTCs and their definitions.
