Renault has chosen the Paris Motor Show to unveil – in show car form –
two of the 26 vehicles that will be launched within the framework of
"Renault Commitment 2009". They are Twingo Concept, which foreshadows
the successor to the current Twingo, and Koleos Concept which marks the
expansion of the Renault line-up into the 4WD arena.
World premieres that illustrate the ambitious product plan announced within the framework of "Renault Commitment 2009"
The Twingo Concept foreshadows the forthcoming Twingo that will go on
sale on the Continent from Spring 2007 and which focuses on youth
trends, sport and music.
Powered by the new turbocharged 1.2 16V TCE (Turbo Control Efficiency)
100hp engine, Twingo Concept has a high multimedia content, including a
centre console equipped for Apple i-Pod playback and Nokia Smartphone
use, a mixing deck incorporated in the dashboard, a retractable,
folding 15-inch screen and web cam, as well as computer functions that
permit communication via the Internet.
The Paris Motor Show also saw Renault take the wraps off Koleos
Concept. This show car heralds a rugged and sporty 4WD that is due to
be rolled out in the first half of 2008. This vehicle is made for both
wide-open spaces and city streets, built on a new four-wheel drive
chassis and powered by a 2.0 dCi engine, both developed within the
framework of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
Renault’s third concept unveiled at the show was Nepta. Purely an
out-and-out styling exercise, this prestigious four-seater cabriolet
features low-slung lines expressing elegance and movement, while its
spacious, comfortable interior has all the hallmarks of a top-end model
with performance worthy of a prestige touring car. Its motor-driven
gull-wing doors open to reveal both the interior and engine
compartment. Nepta is powered by a longitudinally-positioned 3.5-litre
twin-turbo 420hp V6 petrol engine coupled with automatic seven-speed
transmission and steering wheel-mounted flick-shift controls.
