American Le Mans Series, Round 9 in Road Atlanta, USA - continued
For
Lucas Luhr and Sascha Maassen the main objective at this prestigious
1000 mile classic is to claim the sixth class victory for Porsche in
the season and extend their lead prior to the season final on 21
October in Laguna Seca. “Whoever wins this race,” said Sascha Maassen,
one of the most successful drivers in the American Le Mans Series,
“should make sure the champagne is on ice.”
In the GT2 class, second-placed Joerg Bergmeister (Germany) missed out
on the best time by one-tenth of a second. The reigning GT2 class
champion and current number two in the championship is co-driven by
Patrick Long (USA) and Nic Jonsson (USA) in a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR run
by Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing.
The race takes off on Saturday at 11.45 am local time (5.45 pm CET) and runs over 1000 miles or a maximum duration of ten hours.
