Maranello (Italy), October 2006 –
From October 7th to November 7th the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello will host a series of images dedicated to the Scuderia Ferrari and Michael Schumacher made by über-photographer Michel Comte. The exhibition consists of 30 images which represent a special selection from his travelling exhibition “The Face of Pace” which conveys the “face” of speed, with each picture expressing the enthusiasm and passion of Ferrari.

To create this unique reportage, Comte followed races all over the continent for more than 15 years. The exhibition includes images which capture the essence of Formula 1’s activities, the racing cars, the fans’ passion, Jean Todt, engineers and mechanics – both focused intently on their specific tasks as well as in their sense of anticipation during a race. Also on display are some intense portraits of seven times World Champion, Michael Schumacher.

Comte’s black&white and colour photos capture the dynamc energy in a motionless image which visualizes “the face of pace”.

In order to present the high-tech materials used in Formula 1 more effectively, Michel Comte – and the specialists at the renowned Tricolor Laboratories in Zurich – printed the images using the new ”Dura-Clear” process by which large format negatives are digitally transferred to transparent clear-film.

To accompany the photos, the Galleria is also showing Schumacher’s original racing overalls, helmet and his 2002 World Champion F1 car.

The exhibition catalogue, available in Italian and English, will be on sale at the Galleria bookstore.

Michel Comte, born 1953 in Zurich, is one of the masters of his profession. Internationally acclaimed due to his international advertising campaigns as well as his work as a fashion and celebrity photographer, he has also in recent years increasingly devoted himself to feature photography. These works are not exclusive to the field of cars and motor racing but also shot on behalf of the Red Cross in the war- and crisis-torn regions of Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia.

The Galleria Ferrari of Maranello, located near the factory and the Fiorano track, is open every day, holidays included, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
