Broadview, IL – Blaupunkt has introduced their PCb series of enclosed subwoofer systems, making it simple for consumers to upgrade the bass performance of their car audio system. Each system features an attractive, high-performance sealed enclosure pre-loaded with one or two 12-inch cone subwoofers, including easily accessible speaker binding posts for use with amplifier modules from Blaupunkt or other manufacturers.
"The most common complaint about stock car audio systems is the anemic bass performance," comments Blaupunkt Marketing Manager George Velez. "The PCb subwoofers and enclosures are perfectly matched to deliver tight bass in nearly any vehicle, so the consumer doesn't need to waste time designing, testing, and building an enclosure."
The PCb1200 Dual enclosure is made of acoustically inert fiberboard and features two high-output 12-inch spun paper cones that are each rated for up to 200 Watts of continuous power, with a dynamic power handling capacity of 600 Watts. Each woofer features a single 4-ohm voice coil wired to a pair of heavy duty biding posts recess-mounted to the size of the enclosure. The woofers can be wired independently for use with two-channel amplifiers, or can be wired in either parallel (2-ohm) or series (8-ohm) for operation with high power single-channel amplifiers.
The enclosure is a sealed design for greater linearity than typical ported boxes, and has a linear frequency response from 35-500 Hz. It is finished in charcoal felt fabric, and is wedge-shaped for high stability in the trunk of a car, or behind the seats of a pickup truck. The drivers are finished in a Titanium-silver color and include attractive silver grilles, giving the subwoofer an aggressive appearance to match its performance.
The smaller PCb1200 Single system features a single-woofer enclosure, and delivers the same features and performance of its larger sibling, at a slightly decreased SPL output for smaller vehicles.
The PCb1200 Dual and PCb1200 Single are currently available at suggested retail prices of $129.95 and $99.95 each, respectively.
