LAS VEGAS – Oct. 31, 2006 –
Ultra-high performance enthusiasts are in for a treat with the new BFGoodrich® g-Force™ R1™ tire, a superior DOT legal racing tire that is equipped for the racetrack.  This new addition to the ever-popular g-Force family is designed for the owner for whom winning is the major consideration.

The BFGoodrich g-Force R1 tire will be officially unveiled at SEMA in Las Vegas on a number of show vehicles.  The tires will be seen on a Honda Fit, Ford Mustang FR500 and a Subaru STI at various booths throughout the week.  The tire will be initially offered in two sizes, 225/40ZR18 and 285/30ZR18, with fifteen additional sizes to arrive by April 2007.

BFGoodrich Tires designed the g-Force R1 tire for drivers looking for a competition-ready tire with best in class dry grip and sharp steering response.  The symmetric, non-directional tread design also provides for superior cornering power and precise turn-in, which inspire confidence for the quickest lap times in road racing competition.

“The g-Force R1 tire is yet another example of BFGoodrich developing quality products that are designed for the enthusiast, but translate wonderfully to the road,” said Doug Brown, BFGoodrich Tires performance category manager.  “With the g-Force R1 tire, BFGoodrich continues our commitment to produce tires advanced for the driver in all of us.”

Other features of the BFGoodrich g-Force R1 tire include:

  • Minimal break-in required, as the tire is molded to 4/32nds of an inch tread depth and no shaving necessary
  • Tread compound formulation, which offers quick warm-up, superior cornering power and consistent grip, making the g-Force R1 tire the ultimate street legal tire
  • Predictable grip character that is forgiving and easy to drive at the grip limit make the g-Force R1 confidence-inspiring, which enables driver precision at the track
  • Ability to be used at different vehicle wheel positions, and rotated in different directions will maximize treadlife with an even wear profile for the most possible laps at the track

BFGoodrich Tires combines technological expertise with vast motorsports experience, delivering a high-performance tire for every type of vehicle from ultra-high performance tuner vehicles, sports cars and SUVs to the hottest sport trucks, pickups and rock-crawling rigs in the world.  For more than 30 years, BFGoodrich Tires has used motorsports as a proving ground.

Success on the street begins with winning on the track and BFGoodrich Tires is involved in every type of racing, including oval, sports car, drag, desert, rally (Paris-Dakar and WRC) and extreme rock-crawling.  With 20 consecutive Baja 1000 wins, the most wins in rock-crawling history, and an unmatched record on pavement, BFGoodrich Tires has proven the only records it breaks are its own.  Visit BFGoodrich Tires online at www.bfgoodrichtires.com.
